Using a typewriter, plumbob, and dust as metaphors, Chose Wisely illustrates the dynamic interplay between expression and anxiety while pushing the viewer to consider the complexity of language and responsibility.

Whereas the typewriter represents language, the plumbob represents contemplation, as well as truth, weight, and gravity - both the gravity of importance and the gravity of grounding and focusing oneself. The dust represents time and assists the plumbob in its unwavering stillness. Both create a silent anxiety while they seemingly wait for the next word to be chosen. The plumbob suspends its full weight within the typewriter but doesn’t touch it. The tiny synapse between the two elements – between truth and expression signifies the “choice”. There is no AI, spellcheck, or command Z here. Once the word has been chosen there is no taking it back. ​​
